| | | | | | | The orange object is a seashell called a Golden Cowrie. Dad bought this one during a family holiday to New Caledonia in Christmas 1972, and was quite proud of his purchase. Dad also bought the little bottle and the three monkeys on an earlier trip. I've had these knick knacks a long time now and I feel very attached to them. I got the little souvenir of Michelangelo's Pieta from the charity shop up the road, largely with a view to painting something like this. The actual item is much poorer quality than the other items in this picture, but I see that in painting it I unconsciously improved it quite a bit so it would fit in. | | | | | |
